In between the Opening Ceremony and the Setting the Scene session, the Civil Society Internet Governance Caucus met to discuss our views on issues such as the nature of the dynamic coalitions or working groups that the IGF will need to achieve its mandate, and process issues for the main sessions.
That meeting was the first time I (or most others present) heard of the fact that participation in the main sessions will not be by raising hands and speaking up. Rather it is limited to writing down questions for the panel on pieces of paper and passing them forward to the moderator, who will select the questions to be asked.
Obviously this poses problems for those who are not present in the auditorium. So Kieren and I, with the assistance of two students from the World Bank, will be monitoring blogs and chatrooms to pass on questions received online, so you will need to make sure you are raising those questions in fora that we are monitoring! Hopefully the strength of the wireless connection will hold up to this process.
